I know this update is nearing its release, so this request is for a future update.
As everyone who plays this game knows, the TAC fighter is a useful tool in combat. It also excels at hunting down masterminds. I simply request you add a another option to its combat abilities. Instead of telling the fighter to attack a single target, the masterminds, can you add a command to tell the fighter to engage drones? The TAC fighter could circle the mothership until enemy drones come into range, then, it will leave the mothership to engage the drones and keep them at bay. When all drones in the area are defeated, or if the fighter runs out of ammo, the fighter will return to the mothership to dock or resume its circling orbit. Please consider?

Sounds like a decent feature to add! But in my opinion itsounds like a bunch more work to do. I like the concept however

Sounds like a really good idea, but the game is in the final stage now (pre-release). It's probably a bit too late for a new feature like that. Maybe, if I can manage tomorrow I'll add an additional laser to the fighter instead (one that only targets drones automatically). How does that sound?

That sounds PERFECT.

That sounds a little OP...
I find that the main deterrent to me using my TAC fighter is drones, because they have the speed to pose a threat. So I have to clear out the drone carriers before I chase Masterminds.
But if you give it a laser that kills drones, it becomes basically invincible unless you send it on a trajectory directly intersecting an enemy ship.
Maybe make it autotarget enemies with its minigun while it's in its holding pattern (launched but not given a target)?

Yeah, you & Staff of Charon are right. The problem with using the primary weapon is that a player actually may not want the fighter to finish its ammo on drones while it's standing by. Further, the mini gun is very weak against drones. You'd have to waste a lot of ammo to bring down a drone, probably not worth it. Given the circumstances and the fact that I was chasing a bug (which made the game crash frequently) for the last couple of days, I'd rather not add a feature which might end up worsening the overall experience.

How about a lazer with the mini gun instead? Only, the lazer doesn't run out of ammo, and it ONLY targets drones within its range. The mini gun still acts as it normally does, and the lazer will not fire at anything but drones.

maybe another fighter specially for drones so the mothership can launch 2 fighters.

That would be nice, too. Yeah, one fighter specializes in hunting down Masterminds while the other specializes in fending off swarms of drones.
