Sandbox Mode is everything I dreamed it would be and more, but it is not without its flaws. I have a few ideas that would certainly improve this mode and make it much easier and more fun to use.
1) Locking Placed Units: Often times when I am placing EDF or alien units close together, I mistakenly tap too close to a unit I have already placed and delete that unit. This is frustrating. There should be a button to 'lock' a unit you have placed so you cannot accidentally delete units you do not want to delete.
2) Drag And Place: Placing large units, like the factory and headquarters the exact way you want them is quite difficult. Doing this often results in placing and deleting the unit many times until I get it right. This problem could easily be overcome with dragging the unit into place. This way, you could use the star to get the unit facing the direction you want, then you drag it to where you want it to stay. This could very well help with ships, too.
3) Saving!: Personaly, I would love to be able to save any maps I have created. It is sad to see a large and complex map you have spent a long time on dissapear when you exit.
4) Direct Control: Having full, unrestricted control over the EDF armada is awesome, but what if we took it a step further? What if there was an option to switch back and forth between the EDF and alien forces? With this option, you could control alien ships in the exact same way you control EDF ships. Adding this feature would make fore some creative maps and battles.
5) Clear All: This one is simple. I think a button to clear all units, EDF, alien, or both at once, should be available.
These are my ideas to improve and better Sandbox Mode gameplay. They are only 'featured requests', so I hardly expect any of them to become a reality. What are your ideas? Share them here!

I've just had another thought that could potentially improve Sandbox Mode's builder mode. When in builder mode, a transparent grid covers space. Kinda like the one on the map, but smaller and more precise, covering the entire screen.

Kinda like the one on the map, but smaller and more precise, covering the entire screen. They are all very good ideas. The question is of course, what should come next for Space Borders (in general). The possibilities are endless. In theory, we could focus on improving Alien Encounter forever, but there are still several open ideas, e.g. the prequel, a possible skirmish mode and more. I was hoping the prequel would be the next big step. It would certainly help the game get more popular, since it will be totally free of charge. More exposure and a little more financial input would get me more motivated to direct additional time and effort into this game. Now, regarding your ideas. 1) How about adding a delete button instead. In builder mode the strategy button at the top right doesn't do anything. I could be replaced by a "delete/place" button. That way you never accidentally delete anything and never place anything when trying to delete objects. Would also be much easier to implement. 2) I agree with you about this problem. Will check what can be done. 3) Yes, again I agree, BUT this is not simple by any means. Perhaps a simplified version of this could be implemented, but it would still take time. 4) The game is not designed at all for that unfortunately. It would take some time to find a possible workaround to get that to work. 5) Indeed, this is very easy to implement, but would have to be integrated into the UI somehow. 6) It's possible. -> I will see what I can do about those ideas, but it'll take some time.

I appriciate you taking the time to look at my ideas. Most of all, I really, really want to see a 'Save' option for maps and battles designed in Sandbox Mode. Though, as much as I would like to see all of my ideas come to the reality in the game, I leave the final decision to you.
