@joe Hopefully soon, but beta testing is essential to make sure there are not too many bugs. - Speaking of bugs, I just discovered one with wingmen. When you move a wingman away from the formation, the entire formation starts moving, even when it was actually idling. - Another bug occurs when starting ships from the mothership that have ranks. The health values are set incorrectly. @derezz You can wait for the next built. Actually it will solve the problem mentioned above + has more polished Terran ship textures.

How does the exp system work? Do different ships give different amounts of exp?

Well, it's pretty simple actually. Every ship receives experience from the amount of damage/destruction it inflicts on enemy ships. In order to achieve higher ranks, it needs to do the following:
Rank 1 - Do damage equivalent to ~50% of its own hull strength. Rank 2 - Do damage equivalent to ~500% of its own hull strength. Rank 3 - Do damage equivalent to ~5000% of its own hull strength. Rank 4 - Do damage equivalent to ~50000% of its own hull strength.
Due to the different nature of the various ships (like number of turrets and hull strength), some might achieve ranks faster than other ones.

Oh. So that's why my nuke centaur leveled up so quickly. Group of 3 capital ships + nuke = high exp.

Exactly! But I believe that's ok, because even with increased armor, the nuke Centaur is pretty helpless. The Aegaeon for example needs a lot of time to gain ranks, but once it does, it's pretty damn powerful. So in the end, it's worth the patience!

The Nuke Centaur would be helpless...if leveling didn't increase movement speed. Right now mine is Rank 3 and already only fighters can catch it. Capital ships just get a nuke or two and go down without ever coming near the Nuke Centaur.

Is exp supposed to carry over? The first mission I tried didn't keep the exp for the next mission, but subsequently it carried over. Also, does the harvester level?

Yep, all ships bought from the garage should have their experience carried over, unless of course you quit the mission before finishing. It didn't do that for the first mission? Right now the increase in armor and speed is as follows: 1 - 5% 2 - 20% 3 - 45% 4 - 80% Do you think this is too much? Thanks for the feedback.

The first thing I did was Deep Space Mining, were I got my Nuke Centaur to rank 3. Then I played another Deep Space Mining mission and the exp didn't carry over. After that it worked properly though.
I think it's a bit much. Maybe just an increase of 5% per level? So it would be 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%. 20% is still quite a lot really.
Or if you think that's too little maybe 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%.

Alright, I will change the values to either:
5, 10, 20, 40
- OR -
2.5, 5, 10, 20
If the increases were linear, it would kind of be unfair, cause reaching level 4 for example, takes so much more than all the other three levels combined.
What do you think?

The second one is better I think.
Also the Mothership is even easier to defeat now. Lvl 3 Nuke Centaur can just run circles around it while nuking it over and over, along with the battlecruisers.

I think the 5 - 40 option would work better. Wouldnt take too long to get to 40 but wouldnt be so short that you maxed out your guys within a couple missions.
