No it shouldn't do that, but apparently it did. The only logical course of action is to prevent the update from being reviewed, before it's too late.

No i dont believe i do have an itunes backup. Honestly dont really know itunes all that well since i dont really use it a lot now that i switched to an android phone but i still use my iPad to play this game. I have it setup so that it backs up to the Icloud once a day. I might try that and see if i can recover data. Yea it sucks lol. Probably user error but we'll see

Well I cancelled the update and will make sure that everything is set up properly, a two day delay won't hurt anybody... Would be great if you could restore your stats using iCloud, if not I will definitely send you a customized build, so don't worry. Really sorry about this folks, but it's really too risky to release the update under these circumstances...

Should be fine, I would rather have a working game compared to a game that deletes everything

derezz619You really shouldn't apologize, in fact you may have prevented a serious problem. The good news: I believe I have isolated the problem already. Once the necessary modifications have been made, I'll upload the new binary (shouldn't take too long).

Will the changed version be beta tested or just put on appstore since it all works except for the save thing. What caused it to get rid off your data?

That's a good question, the problem was that I didn't force the device to write the data immediately to the harddisk at some points. When you start the new version for the first time, a lot of data on the drive is modified. It is possible that data has been read before the write cycle was complete and hence the game believed there was no previous version, resetting everything to default values.
Now I have changed all libraries to synchronize all data immediately after any of it has been changed. This should solve the problem...

Interesting and once more this is why I don't write apps for apple I only download them. With googles android on java the issue of writing to save data isn't that big of an issue since the save data is stored differently. Well at least the problem is fixed has the fixed new version been uploaded?

Never had the chance to write any android code, so I really can't tell. The closest thing in regular java I can think of, is probably forgetting to flush a buffered writer. Concerning the update; it has already been submitted. I think I've never been this worried about an update before. :/ Let's hope everything will work out...

Yea kinda like forgetting to flush a buffer writer but I set up catches in key areas to remind me when debugging. And so the update should be out in a week. Also glad it was caught before people lost their ageons. That would of been bad.
