So I don't know about everyone else but when I come to the site, that pic at the top almost always catches my eye. The ability to give your fighter a formation. I was thinking if a hydra was in formation, you could set the fighters to escort and they will try their best from there instead of all taking off separately. Or maybe attack formations. Almost like flying your independent support fighter the mother ship has. Have them all arrive simultaneously instead of that one at a time after they launch. Just a quick idea. I want to know what you guys and gals think.

Well not individually, the whole squad could be used with one touch. So only 4+1 moves instead of the 32+1

Don't worry, I'm still alive and so is Space Borders. Sorry for my prolonged absence, but I have been super busy with several things, one of which is CM indeed. Assigning fighters into a formation would be pretty cool, but might introduce some programmatic issues (mainly because fighter objects are not capable of acting as wingmen/follow other units, it's a performance thing). What can be done however, is to force the carrier to launch groups of four fighters, rather than individual fighters. Would that work as a temporary solution?

Yea that sounds like a good temporary fix untill you have time to work on other features.
