That's why a sandbox mode would be good. The dev could add it in for a buck or two and Id buy it. I'd love to make some custom battles.

OK, bad news. Apple has reviewed the app and just rejected it a few hours ago. The reason is currently unknown, as the app managing portal (iTunes connect) seems to be down (and has barely been working over the last two or three days), apparently Apple is having some serious problems with their servers. Anyway, I'm guessing the rejection might have something to do with the player having to complete the campaign, before they can purchase CM. Well, all we can do now is wait until it becomes accessible.

Update: I was finally able to access iTunes Connect. The primary issue was that Game Center was enabled, don't know how that happened (by accident probably), which I have disabled now and 2nd, that the IAP purchase part was not very obvious. Now the problem might be that you can only buy CM if you have already completed the main campaign and I don't think the reviewers have time to do that!! So either they let it pass and we might see the update very soon, or they completely reject it and demand that the IAP can be accessed right from the start, which would introduce two problems: 1 - a new binary would have to be submitted, meaning another long wait. 2 - Someone might unlock CM right from the start, just to find out s/he can't play it without building up a decent fleet first. Man, I really hope they can accept it the way it is...

Ah. Well maybe explain that its only unlocked after so the user finds conquest mode easier. They would complain if it was too difficult.

Add in another IAP for credits that way you can say if they don't want to wait for the campaign they can just get like 100-200k creds for a buck which will solve that problem.

Apple are ridiculous. They dont approve this update but they approve apps like angry birds that other companies copy and upload to them to make money. Then theres cheat apps loaded with viruses that get approved. Its stupid

Yea I hate these stupid IAP games, the ones where you NEED to buy "crystals" or whatever to play. This is one of the few games where we aren't getting nickled and dimed to advance -.-

OK, iTunes Connect is down again. This time it doesn't even bother showing the login page. @joe I have explained it in my answer, however, if they have a general policy that requires an IAP to be available right from the start, then we can expect a rejection. Yeah, I agree with you. It's all just about money, no morals. Feeding on someones game addiction is just as bad as exploiting someone with a drug problem, in my personal opinion. I understand that Apple needs to compete in a fierce market and so a steady income is essential, but it's a trade off. Apple should stick more to what they are best at, innovate! Anyway, let's just hope they the version. Would be a real shame if a new version would have to be submitted.

Seriously? They rejected it because the IAP "wasn't obvious"?
=.=
What, do they want those annoying as heck popups every 5 seconds?

Hmm, so I got a response from Apple. They require a new binary (probably meaning another weeks' wait) and they also want me to resubmit the IAP for review. They also informed me that a "restore" button is necessary for all IAPs, but there actually is one already. I'm kind of puzzled by all of this... So here is what I'm going to do: Make it so the player can purchase CM right from the start with an additional warning/recommendation of completing the main campaign first, then I'll review the guidelines to make sure I'm not missing anything else and then hmm, I don't know what to do if it gets rejected another time.

Funny thing is that I actually attached a file showing the steps to both purchasing and restoring CM. Really weird!

What a bunch of idiots. They are stupid reasons not to approve it. I have seen angry birds and others approved by apple and published under false company names and they got through. Should lodge a complaint.
