Yay new noobs!
Hi people,
I'm Warfang.
As you can kinda see I'm new here, but currently Space Borders is my favorite game out there for IOS (Keep up the great work!)
I'v always been a big fan of any RTS, personal favorites include "Supreme Commander" and "Dawn of War."
But it was so freekin hard to find a half-way decent RTS (that I enjoyed) for IOS.
Anyway, been playing the game for... A really long time.
Only recently found this! Oh so nice to find a place to talk about the game.
Anyway, with the new launch of CM I thought I would share all my ideas I have come up with (and others have beat me to it!) Some have already been listed but:
1. A Wiki! I truly am a raw stat guy, I love seeing the numbers. But at the same time it would be great to have a place to store some info. I think it would be a great investment for the community to work on a wiki. Start up some chatter!
2. Conversion into DPS for turrets. A minor change, adding a DPS (Damage per second) to the information on the mothership turrets can help new players grasp the damage numbers more soundly, and can help experienced players calculate stuff quicker.
3. Fleet unison rework. This has been stated before, and it's a lot of work. But the way you manage your fleet now really is one-sided. You just bunch up the best you can, and dish out damage. I find this somewhat lacking. While strategy exists in the form of forming your fleet and how you set up and how you attack, I wish this can be set apart a bit more. I find escorts lacking a place, they make good scouts, but to be actually microed into taking on capital ships I find more of a loss then a gain. They need a more "escorting" role, how that happens I'm not sure. Maybe make capital ship turrets turn REALLY slow and so escorts are there to truly provide relief against smaller targets. Maybe escorts are the only ships allowed lasers an maybe a new short ranged homing type of weapon. Dunno.
4. Yay Fighters/Bombers. You got a great base with fighters/bombers (I'm going to refer to them as "ordnance") and I love them. But they can be expanded to do so much more! It would be great for fighters to have a simple command of escorting a capital ship; flying circles around it and shooting at anything in range. But that's just the beginning. Think about having the fighters have veterancy and basic sets of orders. Not so much they turn into super-mini escorts, but enough to allow a bit more control over a specific task you want them to complete. What's more? Hydras having a hanger bay, where you can set up (in the armory) how many fighters/bombers it has. (Keep in mind they would still be replaced for 20 credits, but lose veterancy) You could say it has 8 slots, a fight takes up 1 slot, while a bomber takes up 3 or 4 slots. Bombers would fly around with basically a missile launcher. I'm still going! Bomber could be refitted with a mine-layer, a boarding hull (more on this soon), super-mini drones, and other choices! Finally, a new type of ship: a fighter/bomber. Combining the best traits of both, while losing some speed from the fighter and some payload from the bomber.
5. Please change Battlecruiser a bit. Ageaous launching fighters... Ugh. I hate the manual attack. Can you change it to be more like hydra, but with only 4 fighters?
6. Health buff. Agreed was other posts. All ships should gain a 15% or so health boost for longativity. Longer battles.
7. Boarding ships. Yeah you heard me. This might start a war but here goes: Why not have a specialized escort (or ordnance) that, when it contacts a ship, transfers a boarding crew into it for every second attached. When enough boarding has been obtained, the ship transfers command to your fleet for that battle. Now how cool would that be. It would look like a skinned-down CargoMaster with a plasma on top. It would need slow speed, high health, and be cheep cause they will get blown sky-high often. Best part? Hello enemy boarders (then it would be space boarders wouldn't it ;-)
8. Supercarrier? Hell yeah. That would be fantastic. Perhaps maybe the only ship with bombers, no hydras :-(. Just don't make it more then 5M please!
9. Toward discussion of weapons: Railgun sounds like a great idea (make the texture beam-like but crossing, like the Railgun on the Cobra from Halo Wars.) But first priority is new alien weaponry. I'm thinking, why not something beamish, but instead of fired In a straight line, it swings like a whip! Anybody follow me? Kinda like you would imagine a Necron (Warhammer 40k) particle whip. That would be cool.
10. Purple Sun, move over. Bigger tiny ordnance for aliens. That or a complete spam of them. Someone will be crying their eyes out when their Battleships get hit by a stream of Purple Suns running 25/second. Yeah. This game got a whole lot more challenging. (Like it needed it lol)
11. More escorting missions. I love the escorting missions. Please make more!
12. Fighter upgrade. Mothership upgrade section, perhaps have an option for a second fighter/harvester.
13. Enemy Strikes. Enemy bombers that did the same thing EDF's do. That would really discourage you from clumping up your ships. Oh, and there would be no warning!
14. Release raw stat files!!!!! Please? I want some good old numbers :-)
