I was thinking that it would be nice if we were able to make our own ship, by having a ship editor menu that we could select. The ship we make could take up a capital class slot. My ideas for the basic function is this:
Pay credits for the parts we add onto our ship
We can select a chassy from the available ones (like the Cerberus, aegeon, Zeus, behemoth, etc) and each step up can cost more credits and have more health.
Customizable colors, self explanatory
Ability to select the engines and side thrusters, which would increase speed.
Ability to customize weapons, like having the behemoths mass drivers, the standard human weapons, ion cannon, nuke cannons, the deadalus mining thing,
Ability to add a fighter/bomber/harvester hangar bay, which would allow us to make super carriers or have an additional tactical edge
Ability to add miscellaneous features, such as lights, antennas, radar dishes, etc.
Ability to select from special powers, such as engine overload, shield generators, carpet bomb, etc
This feature may sound like a lot of work, but if added, it would probably decrease the amount of feature requests due to the fact that people would be able to create the type of ship they want. For example I know some one wanted a super carrier, and a few of us wanted a mining capital class ship, this would give us the ability to outfit a ship that could be exactly the type of thing we need/want.
Everything that can be put on the ship should cost money, like the Cerberus body could cost 80k credits and get a certain amount of turret allotments and a default engine that we can upgrade. The only problem I can think of is how to balance it so that people can't have a behemoth with just nukes or 9 ion cannons for example. Maybe have super weapons reduce the number of regular weapons alloted or reduce speed/hit points. Thanks for reading all this
