Ok then.
Glad this is finally getting released haha.

Yeah, quite a few betas this time indeed. Making a video for the App Store, turned out more difficult than I expected. Still working on it, but it's almost done. After that it's finally submission time.

So after finishing the video and getting ready to upload it, I find out that there is a duration limit of 30s. Also, the video has to be device specific, i.e. you have to upload different videos for each device, so I'll try to cheat with the help of scaling and cropping, which will probably not work for the iPad though.

That's a bit bloody daft. Don't know why they have limits like that. The last time I downloaded an app of the app store they didn't even have videos on it. just screenshots.

Finally managed to upload a video preview for the 16:9 aspect ratio devices, but not the iPad, don't have one. Anyway, Apple required a very, very specific video format and codec, even for the audio part. If you just deviate from that in the slightest, it gives you an error message with no details whatsoever, just "Try again". That's it. Thanks to the internet, I was able to find out about the precise settings needed, which some developers have apparently found out by trial and error. Now it says that it takes 24 hours to process the video, so let's see. Will use that time to do a final test run on the game altogether. joe130794, there is no option for uploading a preview video for 3:2 aspect ratio devices, which I think includes the iPod touch 4G, so you shouldn't be able to see any video previews on the App Store in general.

Ah right haha. Well I hope they approve it quickly. Not sure why it takes 24 hours to approve a video.

OK, have submitted the game (will be called v2.2), finally. Let's hope it will be approved by Apple.

heard on average it takes 1-72 hours to approve, because they launch a bunch of stacked updates all at once twice a day, and with increasing apps it may take longer.

It only means that beta testers will have to download the update as well, even though they essentially have the latest version. Well, at least they will get the red "update available number" on the stock App Store app and eventually the provisioning profile of the beta will expire anyway. Can't wait to see if the update will pass the review process, especially after all the weird changes they have made, since the latest iPhone came out.
