As i have discussed earlier about the big idea of skirmish mode, and thanks to Space Borders 's permission I have decided to make a new thread based on this mode! Yes i realize I'm excited, and it'll be a while before this mode will even begin production, But I feel like making a new thread to talk about this new mode. Basically i want your help to think what could be in this new possible mode so we can Plan for the future! I just need a few ideas for example. What could be at the start, how much should ships cost? how many resources should there be??? Thanks for reading and thanks if you have any at all suggestions!

For the new mode, you should start off with your flagship and a small space station. As you battle and defeat the enemies, you obtain upgrades for your station to produce more modulations and build support/capital ships. You must take on the alien fleets while defending your own station. All ships and support turrets should cost a significant amount less than they normally do, because you are collecting resources as you fight. Maybe a third of the original price? Almost like a reverse of Conquest Mode. Instead of invading alien space and destroying their factories/stations, the aliens are invading your space and attacking your factories and stations.

it IS a good start to make but we need exact things, i think we start out with a station (upgradable) and a small hangar, one mining station (the giant asteroid in fragmentation) and probably a couple small ships. I think there should be some capturable mining fields in the center of the map that both sides can get.
The shipyards are useless basically except for small defense and objectives! i think they shouuld be repair points for the EDF ships!
Next, There should be a research station! to unlock new ships! I also think turrets, shipyards, and (possibly) upgrades should be researched!.
Lastly is a major one! Should the behemoth be a purchasable ship?

I love the idea of 'start small, grow big'. It's a beautiful concept to watch your small rag tag fleet turn into the most powerful armada in the universe. This new mode could be the answer to that concept.
Imagine the baseic station as a special docking port (with small defenses) for your mothership. From there, you can launch smaller ships to help you aquite the mining fields, thus allowing you to grow and develop more modulations for your station and your fleet.

Either way, I am looking forward to it. This game has astounded me over the years, and I am eager to see it return.

I feel the same way! Okay so lets start talking about this new mode. Any ideas? (ideas like Prices of ships, how many giant mining asteroids there should be, should daedelus make an appearence) I have one so far, The deadalus should be bought and call in strikes as normal

Unrelated to the new mode, the Daedalus should be made available to buy for your fleet. I suggest pricing it at one million credits.
Back to the new mode, since you are starting a fleet from scratch, and you can't go to your garage to buy ships after missions like in the campaign, ship prices should be reduced heavily. In an earlier post, I suggested pricing ships at a third of their normal price. As for gold asteroids, there should be an infinite amount to sustain both your fleet and the alien's fleet.

I agree the Daelus should be available for you personal fleet, but should be priced higher due to the powers it has. I'll say around 10 million.
Have anyone you played halo wars?? If you have not then I think it should be similar to that where, you start out small with nothing. But as time goes on you build your fighting force to keep the enemy at bay. In the beginning of the mode you should start out with not many resources, but enough to get yourself on your feet by maybe, buying a shipyard to develope ships, or getting mining ships to get more resources. And the higher power the ships have the price for them should go up as well. And having facilities to be able to upgrade ships weather it be more health, or a special upgrade like a temporary shield. For the difficulty, it should be, the higher it is the harder the fight will be. Like faster ship building for the enemy or more health and speed for the enemy ships. As the game or level would go on you would destroy enemy factories or headquarters that severely hurt the enemy or put their ship production to a halt, for the moment until they can find a chance to build themselves back up. (if you allow that to happen) and at the end of the round maybe allow the winning team to mine the rest of the resources, if they want to. With each level you should maybe start at the same spot every time, to develope strategies on playing the mode.

good ideas so far, and thanks Charon for stating going off topic. And no i havent played halo wars I think it SHOULD be a capital ship but 10 million is WAAAAY too much, because when you get it you have to get the money to use the strikes/abilities!
Back to the subject.
Have any of you guys played empire at war, sins of a solar empire, or homeworld? any of them AND you played skirmish mode! Im thinking something like that.
Also spaceman, define "Rounds" of the game. this is basically like an all in one battle. Start small, grow, destroy! But i mostly agree with you! its just the 3 major problems we have with this mode are:
1. The aliens are a little weak so we will have to balance it out
2. we need medium type ships, like one with 4 turrets (it can be in the new mode only) or else we could be at a small risk if were trying to research cap ships.
3. (in progress) The AI needs to learn that if they want better ships they neeed to learn how to SAVE resources (ive seen that in many games).
Now, lets get back to it

Round as in start and finish of the game, like your three step process. But when you finish that game you can restart and play it again at the difficulty you would like to play.

I think that there should be new menu's for like the Hq! for example we tap the HQ and brings up a research list to show what you can build or research
You should also start out with a small shipyard, and a research station. Anyone else want to continue?
