It is very hard to explain why implementing certain things, can take some time and why on several occasions I rarely visit the forum. I really try my best to both work on the game and read as much of your posts and respond to them as I can, but sometimes there is so much that has to be done, that coming here seems simply impossible. In order for you to visualize what's going on behind the end result, which is the game, take a quick look at this image.

The image shows a diagram outlining a very tiny fragment of the game. To the right of the diagram is a short piece of source code that is executed within that red box of the diagram, which again is a small part of the actual game. The code you see has around a hundred lines (lines is the typical measurement for source code). The game in total, has roughly 100,000 lines, so about a thousand times as much as you see in that black box. Of course, this has not been done in a day, or a week, a month, not even a year, but ever since this game has been started. Every time changes or additions are made to the game, they have to be carefully planned and well designed, before adding or inserting them into this permanently growing monster. If things are not done properly and you build more features on top of something that is not consistent, the game will start to crash, bugs to show up, general annoyances, performance issues and lastly will turn into something that can no longer be maintained.
So why am I telling you all this? It's a way to say I'm sorry, if I cannot always keep my promises, or disappear for a prolonged duration, because sometimes things are simply not 100% predictable. Now that Yann is working on all those graphics, which is a lot of work too, he sometimes requires me to test things like animations and textures, requiring videos and screenshots, which again takes away some of that development time.
Anyway, I want to thank you so much for your understanding and for all your support over all that time. Many people don't care about effort and/or potential, but just about the final product. Without all of you, I'm 100% sure the game would have died a long, long time ago. So keep up the good ideas and feedback, even if it doesn't always make it into the game, at some point one of them might after all, just like Joe's portal idea yesterday.
Lastly though, I still stand by my statement that there will be a beta soon, regardless of what I've just said.
