With all the changes you might have come across several problems with the "Training Day" mission. Some of the instructions will have to change, but before doing so, I'd like to say that perhaps the entire mission should be changed. In short, it's boring! If we want more people to play this game, the first mission they encounter shouldn't be about reading a book and not even getting any rewarding action. I've given it some thought and believe that the Training Day mission should take place in a battle situation, obviously a "no lose" situation. Perhaps lots of EDF ships in combat with the aliens coming from a fixed direction. Instead of shooting at some stupid containers floating in space, you would join the EDF with a slightly bigger ship, perhaps a Hydra. Check out the images below. Part I of the tutorial covering the camera, unit control, the artillery and resource operations.  Part II explaining hangar & repairs, mothership turrets, cruising and a mention that most ships have similar special abilities.  Part III explaining formations and special powers. (edit: strategic view could be added here too)  End of tutorial. Additional note: less text, more graphics (instead of do this, then do that etc. the tutorial should have some hovering graphics to show the steps with associated icons. Feedback and ideas highly appreciated.

I love this idea. Perhaps during the 'mega battle' tutorial, the EDF officer training you could tell you about all of the different alien ship classes and how it is best to counter them as you come across them.
Example:
"Lieutenant, alien Fighters incoming! The Fighters are small and fast, but they have weak armor. Use the Odysseus' primary artillery cannons to hit them before they get close."
Little peices of 'advice' like that for the Corvett, Carrier, and Battle Cruiser. In the campaign, as you come across the more dangerous Carriers and Battle Cruisers, you could be warned about their advanced weaponry and be advised not to engage them with light ships.

You know i was actually confused first time playing, i read the first text screen, hit next, read the other one, hit the next button again, then it said mothership tutorial! Turns out i did one tutorial and figured most thing else out on my own.
Maybe they should be a little less complicated, or at least split up more

I dont thing the Daedalus should be in part three, maybe the nuke centaur and hydra and other things but the Daedalus is part of the optional add-on. anyway, a new training mode would be cooler! itd be much more fun!

If you want i could write out a script for some of the text. I just want to do it for the fun of it  But again it will be much cooler than the old one just reading text all the time

What about my idea for the alien ship class introductions? Try to write some diologue related to that, if you want somewhere to start.

I feel like the final mission should be much bigger as well. If the Aliens were attacking earth than I'd wager we'd have a much larger force than a Cerberus and centaurs defending it. There wouldn't have to be any direct engagement with the main players fleet, just more battles spread out to make it a more of an intense battle and give it that line in the sand sort of feel.

I agree and now that the mission builder is available, this should be much easier to accomplish.

@everyone
Thanks for your offer to participate in developing a new script for the tutorial. The problem is that you lack certain essential information, such as dialog / event correlation (from a development perspective), as well as the partially laid down story of the prequel, which could lead to inconsistencies. Further, it is my believe that there really shouldn't be much of a script for the tutorial, because the mind of whoever starts to learn the basics shouldn't be clouded with a lot of unnecessary dialog.

Understood, but i mostly made one for myself for just fun because i really love making scripts for anything, i just enjoy it. Trust me, i have over 20 scripts in my Pages app that i made just for fun
