Hey guys. I'm at Outer Border right now and my fleet is comprised of a Hydra carrier, mothership, Flak Centaur, Nuke Centaur, Hybrid Centaur, Laser Centaur, and Oremaster. My mothership is equipped with 2x Flak turrets, 2x Missile turrets, and 2x Healing turrets. Any suggestions for strategies, fleet composition, upgrades, and resource gathering will be appreciated. Thank you.

Hiya. Outer Border is a pretty tricky level because it requires you to spread your fleet think to protect two or more important stations at the same time. I personally think your current fleet is too weak at its current state to do this successfully but here is what I suggest you should do.
Go to deep space mining to grind for resources. This will be necessary to upgrade your fleet. Simply defeat all enemies in deep space mining, you will be awarded a small sum of resources confirming you did so, and release an ore miner ship to collect all resources. It should only take a few minutes.
Do this as many times as needed to get more resources to build your fleet. Here is what you need to beat Outer Border (and the rest of the game):
2 Hydra carriers
2 Anti-Matter Cerberus cruisers (these are the most exspensive)
The battlecruiser with the ion cannon, I forget the name, but it costs 750,000 resources.
4 flak centaur frigates.
4 missile/machine gun centaur frigates
The nuke centaur frigate
The ore collector ship.
On the Odysseus, you need anti matter guns and healing guns. If they are available at this point, you should also use the mass driver guns. They are the most powerful. But if the mass drivers aren’t available to buy, use 4 antimatter guns in the front of Odysseus and 2 healing guns at the back.
This is my ideal fleet, but you are free to use any combination of ships you want.

Here is what you should do if you decide to use the fleet I’ve suggested for you to beat Outer Border: Divide up your fleet and send the Odysseus, 1 hydra carrier, and 1 antimatter Cerberus Cruiser to the Portal Gate on the far right along with 2 flak centaurs and 2 hybrid centaurs. Remember to get some resources for your hydra carriers to replenish lost fighters. Send the other hydra carrier and antimatter Cerberus Cruiser to the relay station along with the rest of the centaurs. It is optional to defend a shipyard to the south, but the reward is a few thousand resources. I think 25,000 so I don’t think it’s worth risking your fleet. Leave it to be destroyed, but prepare the two half’s of your fleet for an intense fight. Each station will come under attack from alien corvettes, carriers, and battlecruisers. The battlecruisers are the biggest threat but the combination of fighters from the hydra carriers and heavy fire from the Cerberus cruisers should be enough to take them down without losing any ships. Also make use of flares and sacrifice your 3 auto turrets to distract the battlecruisers momentarily if you need to buy you some time. Only 1 battlecruiser will come for each station I think so you should be able to hold them off with relative ease. Once you survive this attack, you will go on the offensive. Combine your fleet at the relay station and head north to take out the masterminds summoning alien reinforcements. This should also be pretty easy now that your whole fleet is combined but be prepared for more battlecruisers. Destroying the masterminds, I think there are 2 of them, and killing all aliens will complete the mission. You will then be allowed to deploy your ore miner to collect all remaining resources, and don’t forget to recall your centaur frigates before jumping to the next mission. Good luck!

I don't have the Agaeon battlecruiser yet. I'm doing as many DSM runs as I can to get enough resources to upgrade my mothership and get another Cerberus. Should I get rid of my Crius missile ship?

I’m sorry, I forgot the Aegaeon battlecruiser was not available until the last mission. Yes, I think you should get rid of the Crius missile ship and replace it with a hydra or antimatter Cerberus cruiser. I have never used the Crius outside of the conquest mode where it is required, because they are more of a liability than an asset.
They are slow, which is bad. They have to stop to fire their missiles, which is bad because it stops any ships linked to it in the fleet, and if you are being chased, it puts the ship at risk of being destroyed because it will stop and be left behind by your mothership. If they are destroyed, they cause damage to all ships around them including your own fleet, which is obviously bad. Over all, they are less helpful than they should be, so yes, please sell it and replace it with a better ship.

Is the Alien Heavy Battlecruiser shooting a white particle pulse weapon?

Yes, those battlecruisers are the most dangerous alien ship below the alien mother ship in the last mission. Their weapons will tear your ships apart and they have lots of health so stay far away if you can. Hydra fighters are good for keeping them at bay, flares, mines, and deplorable turrets are also good. Don’t let any ship less than the Aegaeon battlecruiser take one head on.

Done with Outer Border. I'm on Breakdown and have unlocked the Aegaeon battlecruiser in the store though it's 750k and I need 11 DSM runs to get it.

Do it, I promise it’s worth it. The Aegaeon is totally worth the effort. It’s big, insanely tough, has a combination of missiles, machine guns, and a giant ion cannon that rips through alien heavy battlecruisers. It even has some fighters it can launch like a hydra. You’ll need it for the final battle with the alien mother ship.

And 750,000 is pretty tame. I’m sure you noticed the super heavy battlecruiser on sale for 15 million? That’s what I’m going for fight now and I have a little over 1 million.

I’m interested to see what kind of fleet works for you, because I always use the same fleet loadout and I’m want to see how other fleets work.

Any more tips for Last Stand besides getting the Aegaeon? And why is it called a battlecruiser?

Are you on last stand already?
Well you should have a full fleet. Your mother ship, the Aegaeon, and 4 other capital ships, I suggest 2 Cerberus cruisers and 2 hydra carriers. For frigates, you need 8 missile/machine gun centaurs. Keep your nuke centaur but don’t use it. The risk of friendly fire is too high. There will be another EDF fleet at Earth consisting of a Cerberus cruiser and a few centaur frigates that are on autopilot, so link your ships up to that fleet as soon as the mission starts and just follow them into battle. I make my fleet overlap with the existing EDF ships to protect my own ships. You just bash your way through wave after wave of aliens starting with fighters, then corvettes, all the way up to 5 or so heavy battlecruisers and the mother ship which is insanely tough. Save your Aegaeon’s ion cannon for the alien mother ship.
Are you asking why the Aegaeon is called a battlecruiser? If so, it’s just a classification of ship. It’s larger and heavier than a regula cruiser.

I find it interesting that your strategy is so different from mine.
My fleet composition is entirely Hydras, a couple laser and a couple healing Centaurs, and the nuke. My mothership has 4 healing turrets and 2 lasers. My strategy for Last Stand is to only use mines and flares to help the allied ships and otherwise abandon them. This way, I have time to mine out all the resources at the spawn point and get in position at around 20,5 or 20,6.
My fleet easily deals with the battlecruiser that spawns where I am, and after that I slowly kite the Mothership to death as the Hydras have a slightly larger range than the Mothership. Once in a while I'll pull away so that my nuke Centaur can fire a missile, then after the explosion I'm back to kiting. Easy mothership kill with almost no damage taken. In fact you can do the mission with no damage taken with this strategy if you position at around 15,1 or 16,1 instead of 20,6, but I go to 20,6 because then I can kill the enemy battlecruiser immediately.
