Hey while I was playing the campaign mission where you get the fighter, it says that you only get one because they're expensive and that the EDF discontinued it, but then you can get hydras. Just letting you know a little contradiction In the campaign..

Yeah I know. The very first version of Space Borders didn't have Hydras. They were added much later. Perhaps I should just change the description a little.

Perhaps in the future update, the solo fighter the mothership gets could have a unique feature the hydra's fighter's don't have?
Example: Instead of only unloading rounds of machine guns, it could also fire small rockets designed to take out Masterminds.
Taking out Masterminds is the solo fighter's only real use, after all. It can't engage any other ships in combat.

Yep indeed, it is a mastermind killer and it's unique ability is basically infinite range. Hydra fighters don't have that. Anyway, masterminds are the lifeblood of the campaign, so making the fighter too powerful would probably make the game super short.

I guess that's a good way to look at it, but I don't see the infinite range of the solo fighter a major advantage over a swarm of fighters. Yes, the solo fighter can track a Mastermind anywhere, but a hydra's fighters can swarm and destroy a Mastermind just a quickly.
Could the solo fighter look different from regular hydra fighters? I know Yann has been doing a kick a** job with the new ships, so maybe it could be in another update farther down the road. It doesn't have to look to terribly different, just something to make it more unique.

True, but so can the Aegaeon, the AM Cerberus, the Nuke Centaur, the Crius and perhaps more, however all of them including the Hydra have to be in range to do so. The only ship capable of a long range attack like this is the mothership fighter, so actually that in my opinion makes it very unique and to keep the game balanced it must not be very powerful. I guess for now, it can get a new paint job.

Sorry, I just believe that changing the fighter so drastically might alter the current game balance significantly, putting the aliens at a great disadvantage (especially during the campaign).
