How prepared/scared should I be to attack Kxaarkh? It is not the alien home world, is it? I assume I should get the full 100% attack force before attacking it. Also, is this the first encounter with Beasts?

Yep, it is indeed the alien homeworld. Yes, first encounter with the Beasts. You'll be fine once you figure out how to deal with them.

My strategy was to send one weldmasters to each corner of the map so that the beasts would follow them, then make all of them meet up while flying into dead space so that the beasts get far from the main ships, and while that is going on send your nuke centaur and crius to meet up with the weldmasters, and then make the nuke and crius ships wingmen for the weld masters that are traveling very very far into dead space. Once they're a sufficient distance make your Daedalus start to harvest all the res and call in air strikes against the beasts. Also have your crius fire only the volleys and your nuke centaur fire on them. Using this tactic I destroyed every beast 4 times in a row. It takes about a half hour-45 minutes to destroy them all, and most times the Daedalus will still be harvestin resources by the time you destroy them all. Hope I was helpful. I can upload pictures of my tactics if that would be helpful.
