Oh yeah Commander Hagas was former CO of the Artemis wasn't he? This could make for a very compelling campaign...

Indeed it will Clinkzbone So after re-reading my comment and yours i facepalmed. I accidentally mixed up my words and confused myself. haha, Sorry. What i meant to say was that They DID have weapons at first but no explanation why there were any weapons to begin with before the actuall film/prologue was shown to the public and such, for some of those previousely mentioned subjects.

I take it that we are looking for an explanation for the ships having weapons?

VictorLeeder i think so. Someone did make a point a while back. Someone said Pirates, I suggested a Civil war... but I bet the door is open to many ideas once we cross the prequel bridge !

I like both ideas: Civil war or pirates. Both are easy to explain.
Pirates: EDF warships are armed to the teeth to protect civilian and supply transports from pirate raids.
War: EDF is struggling to extinguish an uprising of rebellious colonies. The EDF and rebel colonies are forced to unite and join forces mid-civil war to combat the new, greater threat, the aliens.

Or it could be that the history of the EDF is just that it simply grew out of a joint military and scientific program, so naturally some ships were military warships while others were scientific vessels.

Is there any news at all if this is still being made? Or what stage is it at? I really liked AE so I'd pay for another if it came out

All recent efforts have been put into AE v3.0 that's just been released so I doubt that this prequel idea is more than an idea right now.

^continuation^ will it ever come out on android? Because when I made apps i put it on both platforms so it can be easier to play and the title will get famous fast also this potential series is incredible and you should probably think about making a place to donate because lots of people could donate to help make things happen!

I love the new update! I just wish that when everything change I wasn't lost in how amazing it looks! Also I just want to ask if its still just one person working on this game Thanks for the compliments. The graphics have been updated by Yann Sauvage, so we are now working as a team and it is so much fun. ^continuation^ will it ever come out on android? Because when I made apps i put it on both platforms so it can be easier to play and the title will get famous fast also this potential series is incredible and you should probably think about making a place to donate because lots of people could donate to help make things happen! Since Space Borders is a paid app, it's not possible to ask for additional donations, even though it's making very little revenue. No conversion to the Android platform is planned at the moment, it's simply not worth the effort. Should the game reach a higher level of popularity in the future (who knows), then this may change. For now, it's all about the prequel. Again thanks a lot for your compliments and also for your feedback.

Just realized how long this thread has gotten. Really have to read it carefully sometime, although we should be focusing more on the prequel.

Yea I love how big this game has gotten over the past couple years and I have a idea that can help move the gameplay faster. If you have ever played command and conquer you will know what I'm saying, anyways in c&c there is a planing mode were you can command units and attack or interact with objects but they won't do it until you get out of planing mode, this is good for attacking a series of enemy's or setting a direct set of movements. This can be implemented on your next game to help with the difficult desisions with out feeling rushed. Back to the point if you put this in your game you may neet to make a few changes from the first game like you may need to make the A.I.'s target you when your close so you can ether sneak by or you can gather units and attack (I noticed you used this in the last mission. Second option is that ...

... You can (while in planing mode) stop the game so the player can make moves without feeling rushed, the only problem is that it may not feel entirely like an RTS if its not in real time. Adding this in the sequel (or prequel) will make the game easier for some people that can't make quick decisions or need to make a strategic plan. I hope you take this idea and at least try it in the next game, if you don't like it you don't have to.
Good work, Josh Miller

If you do a prequel I suggest that you have it way in the past but have better tech and better ships but near the end something could happen (black hole, catastrophic explosion, or they travel to an alternate timeline with commanders but no researchers so they couldn't rebuild there tech.) this way you can still keep gamers happy with new items and ships while the previous game still makes since. This is just an idea and your welcome to build of this or make a different idea.
