We should all be familiar with the swarms of fighters launched from the hangers of Hydra class carriers. These fighters are all equipped with machine guns that rip apart alien fleets, but what if we had different types of Hydra carriers that carried fighters outfitted with different weaponry?
I would find it interesting and useful to EDF fleets to have Hydra carriers that launched fighters armed with rockers, or another carrier that launched laser fighters, or even flak or plasma fighters.
The amount of fighters can vary too. Because rocket fighters might be OP, a Hydra that launches rocket fighters might only launch 3 fighters at a time, not the normal 6, and fighters cost more credits to replace if destroyed.

Welcome back Staff of CharonIn my opinion. I think fighters are good as they are, machine gun fighters are balanced enough in my opinion. However I feel like their AI should be tweaked or adjustable. Meaning that they should have some different prioritization options. For example If the hydra is on "auto target" they target about anything, but I think prioritization would be cool. Such as primarily focusing on alien drones or fighters, or different types of ships. It would be neat to see flak fighters I feel you ask me however

Please consider? I do like your ideas. I've also read the other post about customizing the Cerberus (which I think was suggested a long time ago). Anyway, Space Borders will have to wait for some time (it's currently number 2 in my priorities list), since all my time and effort is directed toward finishing my newest game "Highway Smash". The good news is that Highway Smash is in its final stages, i.e. in 2-3 months there should be a first beta and in about 6 months, I predict a release. Well, I might have a bias here, but I think Highway Smash is awesome. It's somewhat similar to GTA 2 with vehicles only, BUT it features airplanes and ships as well. It has great physics and I'm not just talking about collisions, but things like car engine and transmission behavior, a weather engine with rain and thunderstorms, day and night with smooth transitions, sound physics (doppler effects) etc. and a great AI. There's a lot of attention to detail, e.g. if you go off-road with an SUV you can escape the police if necessary, you can hear birds chirping if you drive into the forest and lots more.
